Comment:  Classic hip hop album.  Nas was like 18 or 19 years old when we wrote and recorded this.  The lyrical content is pretty nuts…especially since he wasn’t going for the mainstream thing in 1994…he was waaay under the radar (for a little while).   Some random lyrics I love are:  “I never sleep because sleep is the cousin of death”, “I’m out for dead presidents to represent me”, “I’m as ill as a convict that kills for fun times”, “[Nas] Delete stress like motrin then extend strong”
Best Songs:“N.Y. State of Mind”, “Halftime”, “Memory Lane”, “It Ain’t Hard to Tell” & “Life’s a Bitch”….seriously, I like each of these songs equally…amazing album!

Comment: All kidding aside. I’m just dont really get this. The beats are so ongoing and the songs lack a catchy chorus more often than not. It makes it blend into the background. I wanted to get into it, but its just not for me. I tried to judge it by its time period but i feel there were greater things out there at the time: Wu-Tang, A Tribe Called Quest, etc. I mean, this came out 3 years after Fear of a Black Planet. I’d way rather listen to that.
Best Songs: “Life’s a Bitch”
