Comment: Check out these lyrics:
“My friend Marcus, he’s got such an ego, I beg him oh daily to let go, Find your father and find your meaning. Please.”
I think he might be writing about me! I also think that overall score could go up with more listens. I was least optimistic about this band having heard their previous release and not being all that thrilled with it. I am impressed with the depth, complicated song structures yet maintained melodic catchy content. The throaty screams seem well placed for the most part. Andy Hull has a really good voice, check out the beginning of Pride to see what i mean. Instrument wise, the guitars are creative and interesting throughout. The bass takes a back seat (I know, I am picky about this). I just feel that it would really set a band like this off if they could find a way to have a driving, leading bass to go along with that drummer, who is excellent. Sara and Greg, there is some Dorkbox work in I Can Feel a Hot One, so make sure you give points accordingly. The harmonies in that song are amazing as well.
I cannot stand I’ve Got Friends, without that song this album would get a few more points in Composition/Structure.
Best Songs: “Everything to Nothing”, “I Can Feel a Hot One”, and “My Friend Marcus” (of course!)
Absolute Worst Crap-Song: “I’ve Got Friends”

Marcus and I both agree that the songs have great structure….This guy reminds me of The Dear Hunter meets Jimmy Eat World….and I like both of those bands so this is easily one of my favorite finds in awhile.  He comes across with so much passion when singing that it gets into my blood!  I actually enjoy “I’ve got friends” and don’t really like “My Friend Marcus” (my least favorite song on the album).
Best Songs: “Everything to Nothing”, “Shake it out”, “Tony the Tiger”(I love me my frosted flakes)
