Comment: Where to start… Greg and I heard 30 seconds of this on My Space, it was enough for us, we shared “The Look”, the external signpost that, indeed, we have found something so worthy we are both humbled and elated at its existence. I am a sucker for heavy acoustic and piano work which usually translates to a rich and full sound, which “Cotton Teeth” definitely exhibits. In the small clips that I have seen, this band seems to assure an amazing performance and presence. This album really demands the audience to pay attention to the Southern dialect that is showing up more often in modern music- combining banjos and gospel influences with traditional rock ‘n roll and blues elements. Also, there is a sense of melancholy woven throughout this album that is hard to ignore, and easy to appreciate. Oh yeah, it gets better every time you listen, a sweet infection on a constant loop…
Best Song: Gypsy Melodies, Electronic Dream Plant, Behold the River

Comment: I wake up with this in my head. There is a trio of songs on this album that i could listen to over and over and I have for about two weeks now. It grows on you so much. I have ammended my original ratings to reflect that. Only knock on it is that the singer goes in and out of my taste. Hope he figures out how to do it all the time on the next CD.
Best Song: “Electronic Dream Plant”, “Behold the River”, “Hey Jim” (in that order)

Comment: It’s a solid album, but it’s not great. There is a nice comfortable feel to it however and I do enjoy the light to loud build up in several of the songs. The Band throwback is also a nice added bonus. However, they really do not stand out in a very crowded genre (Americana,folk,alt-country,indie). Honestly, there are 5 other bands of the same sub sub genre that are better in my opinion: Band Of Horses, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, Sun Kil Moon, and Felice Brothers. Listen to them then listen to TSTCTC and tell me it’s better, because I do not believe it is, even after probably 15 listens in.
Best Song: Gypsy Melodies

Comment: I totally agree with Mike in the fact that I would take Band of Horses over these guys because it’s a very similar genre…but with that said, I still enjoyed the album.  I liked the structure and most of the songs were pretty good.  However, the two that really grabbed me were more “rock oriented”.  The band is above average but they don’t grab my attention enough to listen to them over and over.
